Our representative will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo, and then your tour guide will accompany you to visit the famous Egyptian museum at Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo. It is the perfect place where you can cast your eye over the huge collections of more than 250 thousand artifacts telling the glorious history of Egypt throughout the ages. marvel over the treasures of the boy-king Tutankhamen and his inspiring golden mask . You can also pay a visit to mummies’ room (extra ticket on spot).
Then head to the Citadel of Saladin (Salah El Din Citadel) built in 1183 AD to protect Cairo from the potential attacks of the Crusaders’ armies. From the citadel you can enjoy a magnificent view of cairo with the pyramids of Giza if the weather is clear. Inside the walls of the citadel you will visit the mosque of Mohamed Ali, known as the Alabaster Mosque. Mohamed Ali was the ruler of Egypt (1805-1849) and his tomb remains inside the mosque.
It is considered to be the most beautiful mosques in Egypt having many decorations, lamps and ornaments. It was designed by the Turkish architect Yousif Boushnaq that is why it is said that it is very similar to the Blue Mosque in Turkey.
The next stop will be at Old Cairo zone “Coptic Cairo”. This area is rich in both history and religious architecture. Here you will see a living model of peaceful co existence among different religious communities so this place is called religions compound. you will visit the Babylon Fortress, the Hanging Church and other Coptic churches such as Abu Serga Church. The area has also Ben Ezra Synagogue and the Mosque of Amr ibn al-‘As.
At the end of the day tour you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
